I edited six articles for the second email newsletter for Jim’s Group, one of the largest franchises in Australia, encompassing a variety of service industries from landscaping to building inspections and from bookkeeping to computer assistance. I prepared the articles in December 2011, and the newsletter was sent to subscribers later that same month.
The public relations team at Jim’s Group gave me information and rough drafts for stories on each of the franchise divisions to be featured: Diggers, Dog Wash, Mowing, Pool Care, Skip Bins, and Test & Tag. In each case, I edited (and in one case, I rewrote) the story the franchise division had submitted.
I chose the Mowing franchise division’s story on their charitable efforts for Movember as the feature story for the newsletter. The other stories I edited were: a new divisional franchisor and new franchisees for Jim’s Diggers, a surge in business for Jim’s Dog Wash, tips for cleaning your pool from Jim’s Pool Care, an effort to increase recycling from Jim’s Skip Bins, and a new large contract secured by Jim’s Test & Tag.
Once I completed my editing work, I sent the story drafts to the division franchise leaders and the Jim’s Group CEO for their approval. Once finalized, the stories were published in the company’s Summer 2011 newsletter, which was sent to approximately 240,000 Jim’s Group customers.
